Caromatherapy with Flair!

March 3, 2009

Air fresheners for your auto have come a long way from the cardboard pine tree dangling from the rearview mirror, but it took the engineering masters at Mercedes-Benz’ ultra-luxury division to bring caromatherapy into a whole new dimension. The Maybach Zeppelin, a special edition limousine limited to only 100 units worldwide for each of the two models, is available with an optional one-of-a-kind high-quality perfume atomizer which disperses scent through the car’s ventilation system. Designed and patented specially for the Maybach Zeppelin, the unit consists of an attractive illuminated plexiglass globe which rests on the car’s rear console and is silently activated by a button near the steering wheel–or from a rear compartment thumbwheel on models containing a partition screen–to gently waft the owner’s choice of scent into the passenger compartment within ten seconds.

The system comes complete with two hand-blown vials of designer fragrances created especially for the Maybach Zeppelin by the legendary Givaudan of Switzerland–one light and refreshing, one heavier and woodier, both designed to dissipate quickly without penetrating the car’s interior or the occupants’ clothing. For those who would prefer to use their own favorite aromatherapy fragrance or signature scent (if you can afford a $5,000 option in a car that already runs well over a half-million, it’s not unlikely that you have your own signature scent), a third hand-blown vial is included.
